After seeing and got fed of the aged lineup from the Maruti, there is this most sought after news: the new Maruti Suzuki Swift 2011 will be launched by May.
Swift was first launched in 2005 and exactly after 6 years (pretty long wait it has been) the hatchback will come as a new package the Swift 2011 to the Indian automobile enthusiasts.
The success story of old Swift is something commendable and even to date the auto major sells over 12k units of Maruti Swift every month and that's a whopping number considering the competition that is currently present in the B segment.
So what can we expect in the 2011 Maruti Swift?
Do not expect the exteriors to be totally revamped, you will be disappointed to note it aint changed much (why anyways it should be changed when the USP of Swift always been its looks). But you may be pleasantly surprised at some of the tweaks made to the exteriors, the new Swift come with clear lens headlamps albeit with characteristic peel-back designing, longer snout in the front with same grille, clear lens tail lamps running length of the car, a rear wiper (most Swift users had come with this complaint and Maruti addressed it), bigger steer wheel unit and controls that are mounted on it, electric adjustable ORVMs, expect probably 15 inch alloy wheels and same old black interior themes (Maruti seldom comes off their conservative theming for hatches), enlarged wheelbase and bigger rear seating to make even 6 footers comfortable, but the boot space issue will remain same with 206 liters.
Then as regards the power mill, Maruti Swift 2011 will run on a 1.2 Kappa engine that displaces 1197cc producing 85 BHP of power and generating peak torque of 113 Nm; while the diesel version will run on 1.3-liter multi-jet fiat power train producing peak power of 75 BHP and peak torque of 190 Nm; that apart ride will be better with a better ABS-EBD and 2 airbags for driver seat and passenger in the front.
The best part now; Maruti plans to add a keyless entry feature to the new 2011 and it would make just another one to sport it after Nissan Micra. Coming with 5-speed gearbox (we still have to wait for Auto from Maruti), the Suzuki Swift 2011 will be competitively priced between Rs. 450,000 to Rs. 600,000.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift 2011 will be the welcome change of 2011 and just like its predecessor the new Swift too will change the landscape of the Indian hatches.
