GM to showcase Chevrolet Beat Electric Vehicle in April 2011

General Motors have been progressing very well in India. The auto major had actually rolled quite some new models with variants in the last couple of years and it won't be any different in 2011-12 too. The American-based auto company has lined up few models up for launch in 2011 and 2012. Models launched in India will be with petrol, diesel LPG and electric options.

Go to a GM dealer and you'd be surprised with something new there. The latest news being that General Motors will be showcasing Electric Vehicle variant of Chevrolet Beat in April. The battery-operated Beat will be sent t0 production soon the concept will be showcased and gets approval by pundits and public.

In fact this is second time that the GM India is presenting an electric vehicle and the company recently launched the LPG version of Chevrolet Beat in January 2011 and the company announced there will be a 3-cylinder Chevy Beat diesel version during 2011.

There are not many details regarding the Chevrolet Beat EV at this point in time, but it is speculated that the Beat will at least belt out 100 km for each charge of the battery. It is also speculated that GM could come up with both lead acid and Li-ion battery options to have different price points; while lead-acid variant costing tad lower than the Li-ion variant.

It makes me think how GM India will price the Chevrolet Beat EV to beat the competition as they can't price it in the premium hatches range of over 6 lakhs ridiculously and can't go below the Reva pricing, interesting ain't?
