Toyota first showcased its hatch Etios Liva in the New Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The cute hatch has generated quite some interested and feedback among auto circles across the country and although Tsunami delayed launch of the Toyota Etios Liva, the day has finally come to put an end to the waiting of millions.
Curtains were raised today to unveil the Toyota Etios Liva in New Delhi today, June 27, 2011. It took so much hard work to stick to the deadlines but Toyota Kirloskar Motor has finally took the wraps off of its much talked about hatch Etios LIVA in India for its prospective buyers and adversaries, who can see what its in store in the Liva.
The Toyota Etios Liva is a scaled down version of the sedan sibling Etios. The design looks similar but the Liva comes with a hatch and the sedan with boot. Both the Etios and the Etios Liva are built on the same platform and that is quite some advantage for the company in terms of saving production costs and production time. Ok but with that being said Etios Liva looks very complete and if you see the rear you will appreciate the wonderful cosmetic treatment it has got. It kind of tricks like Nissan Micra and VW Polo from the rear but the roof spoiler accentuates the beauty much more than the Micra or the Polo.
The Etios Liva is powered by 1197cc petrol-run unit which belts 80 PS power @ 5600 rpm and generating neat torque of 104Nm @ 3100 rpm. The engine is mated to 5-speed gearbox, and the kerb weight of 890 – 920 kg (for the 5 trims) makes it the lightest car in its class. The engine is tuned to offer ARAI tested mileage of 18.31 kilometers per liter, although the numbers may drop in real world scenario it still scores well in fuel efficiency, making it a frugal choice in the rising petrol prices scenario.
The Toyota Etios Liva is to compete the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra, Ford Figo, VW Polo, Hyundai i20, Tata Indica Vista, Chevrolet Beat, and Fiat Grande Punto. Time will say if Toyota’s gamble in small car market is a success or not.
The car has 5 trim versions; J, G, G (option of safety package) V, and VX, at following prices (ex-showroom New Delhi):
Toyota Etios LIVA J: Rs. 3.99 lakhs
Toyota Etios LIVA G: Rs. 4.59 lakhs
