Renault India plans to launch a new small car code named B58. The car will be based on the Nissan Micra platform. The car will be unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo. Renault B58 will be more aggressive in terms of styling and looks when compared to the Nissan Micra.
The new car resembles like the new Renault Clio and Renault Twingo and will also be having the same engines too. The new advanced 1.2 litre engine delivers 100 hp offering good fuel economy in Europe.
Renault small car will be powered by the 1.2-litre three cylinder petrol engine which is currently in the Nissan Micra. Renault India is adopting a new engine technology which helps to increase the power output, fuel efficiency and even the life of the engine making it quicker and reliable one. The car is said to be slightly costlier than Micra, due to its superior quality used in body parts and other luxury features.
Renault B58 is built with more quality than of Micra. The car will feature most of the features of a premium hatchback which includes safety features like airbags, ABS and other latest features which are included in most of the premium hatchbacks. B58 is expected to be launched with a price tag of around Rs 5 lakhs in India and a mileage of 20 kmpl.
Renault India vice-president (sales and marketing) Len Curran said, "We are working on an India-specific hatchback, which is expected to take shape by next year. The car, which will compete with the Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20, will drive sales in the east".
"India will become the fourth largest car market in the next three years and is one of the most important strategic markets for us. We would like to penetrate all segments in the country with our range of products" he added.
Renault B58 will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ritz, Hyundai i20, Skoda Fabia, Fiat Grande Punto, Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, Toyota Etios Liva and Honda Brio.
