Second half of 2011 has already seen some big launches and there are more to come in the coming days. General Motors India has announced the launch of awaited diesel variant of cutesy Chevy Beat. The launch of Chevrolet Beat diesel will be on Monday, July 25, 2011. Chevrolet Beat launched 18 months back is undoubtedly one of the popular hatchbacks and General Motors had hitherto came with Beat petrol and the Beat LPG variants, and there has been inquiries about Chevrolet Beat diesel and the company has finally planned to come up with the Beat diesel.
Chevrolet Beat Diesel will not come with radical changes as compared to its petrol and LPG variants and as for the exteriors go, Beat diesel will more or less sport same looks and features as that of petrol versions although in terms of kerb weight it weighs heavier. The petrol version runs on lightweight SmartTech engine while the diesel fuelled version will have a 1.3liter multijet diesel engine (with a CRDi motor). But the engine department worked on weight management of the Beat Diesel; to contain the engine volume, the diesel CRDi engine comes with a cylinder less and this can have some impact on the weight and fuel economy of the car.
The rear of the Chevy Beat diesel features a TCDI badge and there are speculations as to slight changes in the interiors which can be known after the launch.
Besides the CRDI engine Beat diesel comes with 5 speed manual transmission which can produce 58 bhp of maximum power and peak torque of 150 nm.
It is also talked about that the Chevrolet Beat diesel will be the most fuel efficient hatchbacks in its segment; ARAI tested mileage of the 2011 diesel Chevrolet Beat is 24 kmpl but in all practical situations it is expected to give a mileage of 20 kmpl which is quite a neat figure.
The safety features of the Chevrolet Beat diesel include airbags and ABS (now these have become a norm for the cars, what say?). Chevrolet Beat diesel price is not leaked as yet but the dealers have already started pre-launch bookings for Rs. 10,000.
