The cute, feature-loaded hatchback from the Honda, the Jazz which was launched a year and half ago failed to generate much enthusiasm despite so many firsts (airbags, ABS, adjustable driver seat). The only reason anyone going for the test drive and backing out is the ‘hefty price’ that came attached with the small hatch.
It took long for the company for revisiting the price….it still didn’t do the straight channel. But in July 2011 Honda dealers offered whopping discounts and that enabled to sell Honda Jazz as easy as bakery stuff. The discount of up to 1.75 lakh is no joke for a car of so many features and car enthusiasts especially Jazz lovers had got a steal of a deal. The car that was lying stagnated and occupying showrooms’ space was cleared in less than a week’s time.
But wait, why is this sudden and huge shower of discounts from Honda Siel Cars India for the Jazz? Hold your breath, because the company is ready to roll out a Honda Jazz uplift version on to the Indian roads soon.
Discount has worked like treat for Honda to get rid off old Honda City stocks and the company exercised the same mantra for Jazz too….and it again worked like charm to give way to the New Honda Jazz facelift version lined up for launch on August 18, 2011.
What to expect in the new Honda Jazz facelift version?
The new Honda Jazz comes with no radical changes other than few cosmetic tweaks; the front comes adorned with new grille in the front, new bumper with intake in the front and rear and new fog lamps, new revised tail lights and headlights and of course coming in new bold colors. We can also expect Bluetooth and USB port connectivity made available in the new version.
But according to company the new Honda Jazz facelift version doesn’t come with any mechanical changes, so the old 1.2 Liter, 90 Bhp i-Vtec engine will be the mill that will run the car for now (a let down if you have expected to see a 1.5liter petrol engine to do the honors). The new Jazz will not have auto gearbox too which was much talked about.
As for the price point although the company people are tight lipped about it you can expect it to be priced a little over the current discounted price and that’s still a good strategy to be in the race. The launch is on August 18, 2011 which is one day later to the launch of the new Maruti Suzuki Swift. I believe the launch of Jazz is strategically later than that of the new Swift (to consider pricing at the last minute after evaluating the competition by the new Swift), not a bad idea actually.
So 10 days wait, and with good cosmetic tweaks to an already beautiful hatch and a decent price peg might actually make you feel it as a worthy deal; especially if you have missed out on the recent price slash offered by dealers for the Jazz.
Hope the new Honda Jazz will churn out good sales for company.
