Caterham Cars India will be unveiled on the day of Airtel Indian F1 Grand Prix.
As the English MotorSport brand Caterham Cars continues its quest of invading unseen lands, it forays a grand entry into Indian subcontinent. The global company announces launch of Caterham Cars in India during the inaugural Indian Grand Prix at Buddh International Circuit on Sunday, October 30, 2011.
As the entire country is cheering the entry of Formula One Grand Prix the joy gets double it looks like with the globally-famed motorsport company launching here. The Caterham cars brand comes to India, thanks to the backing by Gaurav Burman and Mohit Burman who would be chairing the company's Indian operations.
Burman family spearhead the FMCG behemoth Dabur Group, and the scions of Burman family, both Gaurav and Mohit, have inclination for motosports and have been working on plans for bringing the British Motorsport cars to India for a while now.
Caterham Cars India CEO, Ansar Ali was quoted saying, "We've been working for sometime on bringing Caterham Cars to India, and we are arriving in yet another new market for our brand at exactly the right time - as the brand new Indian GP signals the arrival of Indian motorsport on the world stage. The potential of the Indian market for the Caterham is enormous, so we are delighted to have knowledgeable and influential partners by our side for the journey ahead."
CTI (Caterham Cars India) will focus on the developing a completely new brand of affordable sportscars in the Indian sub-continent.
Keeping the same in view the CTI has gotten Caterham SP/300.R (racing) prototype which carries a huge price tag of 66k pounds to unveil on the big day. The company will bring the Caterham Seven custom-made models priced at Rs. 28 lakhs upwards Rs 90 lakhs by mid 2012.
Caterham Cars India will have the assembly unit started in Greater Noida and eventually will bring the Caterham Academy to India. India will be second only to US where the Caterham cars will have an assembly plant outside UK.
The company said that initially an investment of $5-10 million has been earmarked which will be used on setting up the assembly plant and on bringing awareness among Indian car enthusiasts.
The company hopes India would contribute much to the market of the company in the years to come.
