Hyundai i10 LPG Blue Drive variant launched @ Rs 416,144 and Rs 430,659

Hyundai Motor India Ltd has launched an alternative fuel variant of i10 today, November 22, 2011. The Hyundai i10 LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) variant is launched in a price bracket of Rs.416,144 and Rs.430,659. Hyundai labeled the LPG variant as its Blue Drive range of cars.

The company hopes that the i10 LPG will be the most viable alternative to combat the rising petrol costs and aims at customers who look for cars with low running costs.

The new Hyundai i10 LPG comes powered by a 1.1-liter iRDE2 engine and a factory-fit LPG kit. The noteworthy feature of the iRDE2 engine is that it runs on LPG as well as petrol.

The car has 35-liter tank for petrol and almost same (34 liters) capacity tank for LPG, and users can choose either of the fuel options with an easy one-button shift go.

The i10 with special LPG tank offers boot space larger than any other LPG-fit hatches. According to the company statement the LPG kit of the i10 Blue Drive is ARAI tested and the Department of Explosives has rated the i10's LPG kit to be impact resistant.



There is alternator management system that comes fitted in the car to help with delivery of power to the battery, facilitates with prolonged battery life and improved mileage. With petrol prices over Rs.75 the addition of LPG Blue Drive to the Hyundai i10 lineup surely help with its sales for the company. That said the i10 LPG is little expensive (by about Rs. 27,500) than its petrol counterpart and may also not match with the performance of the petrol version, but the best part is that it comes with factory fitted LPG unit that carries a manufacturer warranty for 2 years. The poor performance of the i10 LPG as compared to the petrol version is compensated by its low running costs.

The i10 LPG is launched in two models; the 1.1 Magna and 1.1 Era with the Hyundai i10 Era LPG coming at Rs. 416,144 and the i10 Magna LPG bearing price tag of Rs. 430,659.
