One Lakh of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Sold in Just 124 Days!!!

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's largest passenger car maker has achieved the important landmark of 1,00,000 units in just four months. Thus Alto 800 become India’s fastest selling car in 2012-13.



Clearly, the Alto 800 managed to clock 1 lakh units within 124 days of its launch. Within one week of its launch, the company got a record booking of 21, 000 units. Also the company has been selling around 25,000 units of Alto every month.

The Alto 800 model shares the same platform with its predecessor model, but comes with superior safety features like active crumple zone and driver side airbag. The successful story of Maruti starts with Maruti 800 and it continues with the Alto F8D and the Alto K10. The A-segment car was launched as a successor of the base model of Alto 800 in October 2012, also have good sales now.

When compared to the earlier version Alto, the new Alto 800 got a very fresh and spacious interiors. The new Alto 800's cabin got a refined look. The vehicle got an extra head and shoulder room in front alongwith extra legroom at the back. The fuel efficiency of the new 800 has improved by 15 percent. The company's CNG version gives an outstanding mileage of 30 kmpl while the petrol version gives a mileage of 22.74 kmpl.

For the past six years, Alto is the largest selling car in India and is the most trusted car in India. When the specification of the car is concerned, the Alto 800 is powered by a 796 cc 3 cylinder F8D petrol engine that generates a peak power output of 47.5 bhp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 69 Nm at 3500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gear box.

The exterior of the vehicle get a jewel-finish rear combination lamps and pleasant design on the back door. When the front portion is concerned, the vehicle get a petal shaped headlamps alongwith stylish grille and bumper. The interior got a 3-spoke steering wheel with silver accents. The vehicle has a seating capacity for 5 adults, has a ground clearance of 160 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 35 litres.

The Maruti Alto 800 is available at a starting price of 2.44 lakh while the top level variant of CNG Alto 800 is available at a price of 3.56 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi). The major rivals of Maruti 800 are Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano and Chevrolet Spark.
