Toyota Kirloskar Motors has come into the Indian motor scenario once again with the launch news of the all new Toyota Hiace at the 2015 Bus and Special Vehicle Show in Delhi.
Popular in over 140 countries, this vehicle would be sold as a van or commuter bus with varying wheelbase lengths. It is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines depending upon the region it is sold in. In India, it is expected to be sold as a high roof, 10-seater bus with a 2982cc, D-4D diesel engine that develops 134bhp at 3400rpm and 300Nm of torque at 1200-2400rpm, mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. In terms of features, the Hiace gets power steering, power windows, audio system with CD, USB, rear defogger, reversing camera, ABS and dual front airbags.
The Hiace is expected to gain popularity in India among the affluent class as it is designed to suit customer preferences, which should work in Toyota's favour. The vehicle will be launched in the country by mid 2015. It will be imported as a completely built unit, revealed a spokesperson from Kirloskar Motors.
