Verna Gets A Facelift From Hyundai For 2015

After the launch of the Honda City and Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai suffered from a significant drop in sales of its Verna, that the Korean manufacturer had to take a crucial decision of bringing out a facelift version of the sedan for this year in India.



The new Verna, which is to be launched on February 18th this year in India, debuted initially in Russia under the name Solaris. What sets the new Verna apart from its older version is the introduction of daytime running LEDs and LED tail lamps, which is the first in this segment, apart from bringing on a fresh face.



Besides these features, the new Verna would also flaunt its projector headlamps, which add to the sporty look of this sedan. Verna 2015 is built on the Hyundai Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy, making it look much similar to the Sonata in appearance.



The interiors of the new Verna is expected to get slight upholstery changes and may get more features inside the cabin. It is expected to get a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, which also features a built-in navigation system



The new Verna doesn't get much of a mechanical update and the 1.4 litre-petrol and 1.6 litre-diesel negine options are expected to be continued from its previous version. However, it is speculated that the current 4-speed automatic gearbox units would get upgraded to 6-speed units, which are present in the Elantra. If the specultions are true, the new Verna would be more fuel-efficient than its previous version.



The new Verna comes as a package of additional features, for a lower-price in the entry-level category. For the petrol based variant, the estimated price of the new Verna would be around Rs 6.9 lakhs, and is already available for booking, with a booking charge of Rs 20,000, at all Hyundai dealerships.
