Maruti Suzuki, Country's largest car maker introduces the facelift WagonR. The 2013 WagonR has updates in both interior and exterior. The new wagonR will be available at a starting price of at Rs 3.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The new WagonR will be costlier by about Rs.10,000 across variants from the outgoing version. The mid-level variant, WagonR LXI is available at Rs 3.88 lakh and the top-end variant WagonR VXI will be available at Rs 4.13 lakh. The WagonR LXI CNG version is priced at Rs 4.42 lakh.
"The WagonR is not just a bestseller for us but is also among top five models of the industry. The changes introduced on the New WagonR are in line with the customer feedback received through our regular customer engagement programmes," Manohar Bhat, Maruti Suzuki India Vice President (Marketing) said in a statement.
When the changes in the exterior is concerned, there is a noticeable change in the area below bonnet. The new wagonR got a sharp face by the main grille and slats, which become sleeker. The chrome strip just above the grille is not thicker giving it a more premium look.
While the headlamps and the fog lamps remain the same, the fog lamps housing have been redesigned in a sharp looking Rhombus like shape. The air dams below the grille has become larger, which is inverted trapezoidal shape. A downward flow contours is found just below the headlamps on both sides.
The interior is designed so to get a breath of fresh air. The beige and grey colors gives the interiors are premium look than before. The another news is that Beige interior is offered only on Vxi trims, not on the lower variants. New seat coverings and door trims is another change in interior. The dashboard design remains the same with minor changes in the center console which gets new stereo system. The new design stereo system comes with built-in audio support.
A day-night inside rear view mirror is added to the new WagonR. A small storage space is added to the top of the center console for storing small things. The seat design, seating layout and the interior space remains the same in the new WagonR.
During the April-November period of the ongoing fiscal, WagonR sales averaged 11,000 units a month with a total of over 88,000 units sold. Compared to the last fiscal, the model averaged 11,500 units with a cumulative sale of 92,000 units. "We are confident that customers will appreciate the refreshments in the new WagonR and we it would help to strengthen brand Wagon R," Bhat added.
The engine and fuel options which includes Petrol, Petrol+CNG and Petrol+LPG remains the same. The transmission uses a lower viscous gear oil and the engine has some friction reduction technologies which improves the mileage.
A lot of contribution is given to the facelift model with the intelligent reuse of interior components and design. As per Maruti Suzuki, the new 2013 WagonR is 8% (at 20.51 km per litre) more fuel efficient than the older model. The 2013 Wagon R will be available in the following colors- Passion Red, Ecru Beige, Glistening Grey, Superior White, Breeze Blue, Silky Silver, Baker’s Chocolate.
