Volvo V40 Cross Country to be Launch in India by March 2013

Volvo V40 will be available at a price of around Rs.25 lakhs

The Swedish car maker, Volvo has officially announced the launch of new V40 Cross Country in India by the end of March 2013. The Volvo V40 was first showcased at 2012 Paris Motor Show.



The Volvo V40 Cross Country will be imported in CBU (completely built units). All Volvo cars come to India Via CBU route and enters India through the Kochi port. The Volvo V40 Cross Country will compete with the popular BMW X1, Audi Q3 and Mercedes B Class. The Volvo would be price around Rs.25 lakhs (ex-showroom Chennai).

Volvo's V40 Cross Country is based on Volvo's new five-door V40 hatch. The Volvo V40 Cross Country is an entry-level compact crossover. The Volvo V40 model features 19-inch alloy wheels, silver roof rails, a honeycomb mesh grille and upright day-running lights, a contrasting rear bumper and integrated skid plates.

When the interior is concerned, the car comes with 40/60 rear seat backrest that can be easily folded. By folding the front passenger seat forward, more space can be created. There is a concealed storage area between the upper and lower floors. For keeping smaller things secure, a “Cargo Mat Organiser” is provided. The “Load Organiser” includes a load belt, a load compartment divider, and two floor rails.

The arm rest is adjustable so as to provide an extra support to the driver. A small storage compartment is present below the armrest. A connector for either USB/iPod or AUX will be available based on the audio system specified.

The Volvo India offers Volvo S60, Volvo S80 sedans and two SUVs including Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90. In India the crossover will be available at 1.6-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engine options.

During the unveiling ceremony of the Volvo V40, Stefan Jacoby, the President and CEO of Volvo Car Corp said, “The all-new V40 is the first new model that is fully developed according to our human-centric, Designed Around You strategy. Charged with an outstanding set of high-tech features it definitely will give our toughest competitors a headache.”

Volvoi India has showrooms in major cities which includes Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai and Pune. Volvo will increase the number of production of sites to 43 by 2020 from the current 12.

Tomas Ernburg, the MD of Volvo India said “Volvo India wants to be No.1 in India in the luxury segment and aims to capture 15% market share by 2020 and would sell 20,000 cars then. It would gradually increase to 30,000 in 2025”.

Volvo gives much priority to its safety features, the car is built in such a way that the passengers inside the Volvo do not suffer with their life in any kind of accident.
