The new A-star comes with a lot of interior space and boot space

Maruti Suzuki, major Indian automaker is now planning to launch the facelift version of A-Star in India. The 2013 A-Star has already been launched in China. The new A-star is called Alto in both China and Europe.



In international markets A-star/Alto was a huge success. Due to the lack of interior space, the old version A-star wasn't a success in India. The facelift A-star focused mainly on the interior space and boot space. The design of the facelift A-star is very unique and will become an inspiration to the cars of the next generation. The new age A-Star/Alto will be taller than average A-segment cars, making it a 'tallboy'. The new A-star is quite good for travel in both the city and urban conditions.

Specification:
The engine is powered by a 1.2 litre K Series petrol motor. The 998 cc engine delivers a maximum power 48 Kw at 6200 rpm and a maximum torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. The engine comes mated with a five speed manual and four speed automatic gear box. The new A-star is expected to be a height of 1550 mm, length of around 3650 mm and width of 1600 mm.

Exterior:
The facelift A-star model comes with a set of new headlights, which is more sharper and elegant compared to the outgoing model. The new A-star comes with a completely redesigned front grille. A major change is made on the fog lamps which now protrudes out of the bumper.

When the rear portion is concerned, the tail lights have some modern features. The clear lens lining of the tail lamps looks similar to Skoda Rapid sedan. The tail lamps now sport a strip of LED lights.

Interior:
The interiors of the car might be inspired from the new WagonR, which has launched in Japan earlier. In order to get more interior space, the wheelbase will also extent from current 2360 mm.

The new A-star is expected to roll out with a diesel engine in the Indian market. The car will upgrade to Sub B-segment and the price will be increased slightly. The A-star is expected to be launch in Indian market by 2014, will be available at a starting price of Rs. 3.60 lakh. In India, Maruti A-Star will compete with the hatchbacks like Hyundai i10, Ford Figo and Chevrolet.
