BMW India will be launching facelift X1 series on Valentine's day. BMW X1 is a successful product in India. The car is famous all over the world, has sold around 3,00,000 X1s in two and half years. The lion share of the profit earned by the BMW India is through the sales of the BMW X1.Th e new car comes with some cosmetic changes in both exterior and interior.
Engine:
The engine of the facelift BMW X1 series remains as 2.0 liter-4 cylinder engine. Also BMW will continue offering the same engine for both diesel and petrol variants. The diesel variant offers a maximum power of 150 bhp whereas the petrol variant offers a maximum power of 177 bhp. Another major change is gearbox transmission, the old version's 6-speed transmission will be replaced by the 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine will be offering with the ECO PRO Mode. As per the reports, the facelift BMW X1 may includes a start-stop system for the very first time. We are expecting the engines to be more fuel efficient and powerful than earlier.
Interior:
When the interior of the facelift BMW X1 is concerned, there is a little bit more chrome on the centre console, the AC vents gets a chrome lining and the steering gets an upmarket feel with the aluminium finishing. The car will carry a new Audio system interface with Bluetooth Handsfree and USB play.
Exterior:
The upgraded BMW X1 now gets a new front grille along with silver finish on it. The radiator grille has been redesigned and the fog lamps have dug in a bit deeper within the bumper. The headlamps have also been refurbished. Tail-lamps, ORVMs and side sill have all passed under the scalpel too.
The major good news associated with the BMW X1 series is that the vehicle is going to be assembled locally. This will help 2013 X1 to become more competitive in pricing. BMW India will follow up the launch of the facelift X1 with two other car models, in the form of the facelift 2013 7-Series luxury saloon and the entry level 1-Series hatchback. The spares all those cars will be imported and will be assembled at company's Chennai plant. The major competitors of the BMW X1 series will be Mercedes B Class and Audi, in the form of Q3, Q5 & R8.
