Force Motors to Launch Gurkha 4X4 SUV on 2013 February 15th

The Gurkha SUV will be based on the Mercedes Benz G Wagen platform.

Force Motors, Indian utility and commercial vehicle maker, is going to launch its Gurkha 4x4 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the Indian market on 15th February 2013, at upcoming Delhi Commercial Auto Show.

History:
Many of the people don't know that the Force Gurkha had been sold in India earlier. Lack of service network and outdated looks and technology forced the company to phase out the vehicle suddenly. As the older Gurkha variant fails to attract buyers, Scorpio and Renault Duster were available as a better options at the same price range. This badly affect the sale of older Force Gurkha. Force has been investing a lot on dealer network expansion, technology and research, which results in the introduction of new Gurkha.

Force Gurkha will powered by 2399 cc OM616 diesel engine. The 2.6 litre diesel engine produces a peak power of 76 PS and peak torque of 185 Nm. The vehicle comes mated to a five speed manual transmission. This ensures easier driving during off-roading activities. The new Gurkha will be four-wheel-drive(FWD) and the engine will be BSIV compliant as well.

Features:
When compared its previous model, Force Gurkha SUV also features a number of interior and exterior modifications. The new Force Gurkha comes with updated front section with redesigned headlights and a new grille. The roof rails and alloy wheels complement each other very well. It is expected that new Gurkha will be equipped with the basic comfort features like power steering, AC with heater and power windows.

The Trax Gurkha will be based on the Mercedes Benz G Wagen platform. This is quite evident from the round headlamps, hood-mounted indicators, and snorkel style exhaust running from the hood to the windscreen and roof rails.

The competitors of Force Gurkha 4x4 will be Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Gypsy. When priced well, the vehicle will be a tough competitor to Mahindra Bolero. Force Motors is expecting to sell around 5,000 to 7,000 personal vehicles (Gurkha and Force One) in the next financial year. The price of the SUV is expected to range between 6 lakh to 8 lakh.
