Mercedes-Benz, the luxurious automobile brand will launch the 2013 G63 AMG for the Indian market on February 19. The G63 AMG will replace the current G55 AMG that was introduced more than one year ago.
Engine:
The 2013 G63 AMG will be powered with turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 engine, which comes mated to a seven-speed 7Hg-tronic gearbox. The G63 has a peak power of 544 bhp at 5500 rpm and peak torque 760Nm at 5000rpm. The top speed of the vehicle is 208km/h.
The engine mated to AMG speed shift and gearbox features three modes, C for Comfort Efficiency, M for Manual and S for Sport and an automatic double declutching function during downshifting. The engine and gearbox together improves the fuel efficiency by 13 percent over its predecessor.
Compared to its predecessor, only slight changes are made on the vehicle in terms of design. The company has re-designed the front bumper to make space for large air-intakes. When the interior is concerned, the G63 AMG gets an AMG instrument cluster with color TFT screen with AMG main menu and separate gear display, designo leather upholstery with ruffled leather door panelling and design exclusive package and AMG carbon trim.
Features:
Some of the standard features found on the new G63 AMG include the hill-hold function, the revised stability control with Trailer Stability Assist, the adaptive cruise control, Parktronic parking aid and Blind Spot Assist.
The safety features includes the ECO Start/Stop function, AMG high performance brakes, a new Sport Exhaust System, ESP Hold and ESELECT. The G63 AMG will be equipped with fuel sipping devices like a start-stop system and brake energy regeneration.
The G63 AMG will be the fourth SUV to be launched in the same month. The launch of Mercedes-Benz is the new GL-Class SUV is expected to happen in March –April. The GL –Class will be launched as a CBU and CKD assembly will start by August 2013. The other major launch of Mercedes-Benz in India will be the new A-Class. The A-Class, offered in both petrol & diesel will be available at a starting price of Rs. 18 lakh. The B-Class diesel is also expected to launch, share its engines with the A-Class. We can also expect the launch of facelift E-Class around August-September. There is also a rumour regarding the launch of new S-Class by the end of 2013.
