Review: 2013 Audi Q5

The 2013 Audi Q5 will be available at a starting price of 43.16 lakh

The Audi Q5 was first introduced in Indian market in 2008. The 2013 Audi Q5 comes with major updates on its engine, ride comfort, fuel efficiency, infotainment and assistance systems.

Engine:
The 2013 Audi Q5 got a more powerful and refined engine. Both petrol and diesel versions give out higher performance and better efficiency. The 2.0-litre petrol engine has a power of 225 PS and a torque of 380 Nm, Which is14 PS and 30 Nm higher than the previous model. While the new Q5 petrol version got an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the diesels variants (2.0 and 3.0TDI) got a 7-speed S tronic box. The Q5 also gets auto start-stop as standard, so it saves fuel while stopped in the traffic. The older engine just delivers a fuel efficiency of 9.49 kmpl and 11.6 kmpl, in city and highway respectively. Audi claims that it will deliver a better fuel efficiency of 16.66 kmpl.

Interior:
The 2013 Audi Q5 comes with A4-based interior design. Though the Q5's front seats are comfortable, lack the range of adjustments just like its competitors(eg: BMW). The MMI (multimedia interface) infotainment control panel now has fewer buttons, revised software and a larger hard drive.

Exterior:
When compared to the previous model, the 2013 Q5 comes with a more sportier look. The Q5 also got a new Xenon plus headlights and LED daytime running lights. The grille is now prominently chromed, and now it gives importance to vertical lines. At front we can find a revised foglight housings and a reshaped bonnet that is less rounded than before.

When the riding quality of the vehicle is concerned, Q5 suits very well for Indian roads. Just like its previous model, the new Audi Q5 comes with four different driving modes. A small change is the switch to “S” sport mode from the regular “D” mode.

The safety features of Audi Q5 includes standard stability control, 4-wheel antilock brakes and six airbags (front, front side, full-length side-curtain). The 2013 Audi Q5 is offered in three trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. The 2.0T engine is available in Premium or Premium Plus trim, while the 3.0T engine comes in Premium Plus or Prestige trim. The 2013 Audi Q5 petrol and diesel variants will be available at a starting price of Rs 43.16 lakh and Rs. 48.71 lakh respectively.
