Review: 2013 Toyota Etios and Etios Liva

Both the Toyota Etios and Etios Liva got a lot of interior and exterior updates

The Japanese automaker, Toyota has launches Etios saloon and Liva hatchback in India.



The Toyota Etios diesel variant is powered by a 1364 cc 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine, with a peak power of 68 bhp while the Toyota Etios Liva petrol is powered by a 1197 cc, 4 cylinder petrol engine with peak power of 79 bhp. Both the variants come mated to a 5-speed manual gear box.

This safety features include front airbags as well as ABS for braking emergencies. Just like the petrol models, both the diesel Etios and Liva get an entry level JD trim.

Toyota Etios VD SP

When the exterior of the vehicle is concerned, the vehicle got a refreshed front grille, with aero fins the along the vertical slats gives the vehicle a sporty look. The aero fins can be found on the revamped taillight clusters of both Etios and Etios Liva. The boxy appearance of the ORVMs are not found now that is replaced with sleeker.

The top level variants get a built in turn indicators in these new mirrors. The minor updates include a new side protection mold. No other changes are made to the new vehicles.

Toyota Etios Liva GD SP

When the interior is concerned, the vehicle got a 2-tone premium Ash Brown treatment throughout the cabin. The new colour schemes adds a sense of conventionality and class to the interior, which we expect for a Toyota car. The instrument cluster maintains its central position but now it features a blue shaded background. Huge improvements are made on the flat and thin previous seats. The front seats now get an adjustable head restraints while the rear seat head restraints get bigger pillows.

A height adjusting option is now available for driver's seat. The mid variant now got a new music player with USB connectivity where the audio unit of the top level variant got Bluetooth, USB and aux-in options. The A/C works better than before but the four wheeler lacks the climate control system.

The vehicle got some mechanical changes too. The vehicle now comes with reduced NVH(noise, vibration and harshness) levels with the modified silencer, thicker insulation and sound absorbing hydraulic engine. The vehicle got an increased ground clearance, stronger bumper and a better suspension. The driving comfort of the vehicle is improved much. The Toyota Etios diesel variant is available at 8.15 lakh and Toyota Etios Liva petrol variant is available at Rs. 5.99 lakh.
