Fortune favours the new Fortuner

One of the top best selling SUVs in the Indian Sport Utility Vehicle market, the Toyota Fortuner, is here to set a new era of adventure driving experience. An all new Automatic Transmission system for the SUV makes it more fortuned to be the next best selling all wheel drive sport utility adventure vehicle. Though the overall look and appearance of the vehicle has not undergone much of a change, the facelifted Toyota Fortuner does look more majestic with a new set of front section and side fairings.



Design and styling components of the new Fortuner is similar to that of the earlier version, yet it does not compromise on the total look and feel of the vehicle. A new pair of smoked up headlamps provide a stunning look to the vehicle making it look more vibrant than it was. Apart from the series of colour options which the earlier variant was made available like the Toyota Fortuner 3.0 4WD AT is available in following colours – Grey Mica Metallic, Black Mica, Silver Mica Metallic, Blue Metallic, Silky Gold Mica Metallic, White Pearl Mica, Super White, Toyota has also made available the vehicle in two new colour shades like the Bronze Mica Metallic and the Silver Metallic. Rear section of the vehicle also gets a shape inserts in the rear tail lights. The use of chrome aluminium can also be seen in this variant of the Fortuner. Right from the front air dam, which is accompanied by two similar large side fog lamps with a chrome adjacent trim. A front grille similar to that of the older version with an integrated front chrome plating right on top of the grille. Logo is placed at the middle of the hood between its lower end and above the front grille.



The 3.0 4WD AT is the top in the Fortuner line up and is equipped with a bunch of new equipments. Wheels of the Fortuner is assisted with an all new 12 spoke dark grey shade alloy tubeless tyres. It is not only the tyres of the vehicle which go in black, the interior designing and styling of the Fortuner also comes in an all black tone. Design elements within the vehicle follows a similar series of blackened components. A dedicated multi-function steering wheel of the vehicle helps the driver to select different functions inside the vehicle with the help of dedicated function keys on the steering. A standard option for a touchscreen DVD display with navigation system equipped with voice command is made available in this variant.



Control system and other specifications of the vehicle except for the transmission system and the engine remains similar to that of the older version. An all new “shift-on-the-fly” automatic 5-speed transmission system is been installed in the all new Toyota Fortuner for more adventurous drive experience. The easy gear shift pattern of the vehicle helps the drivers toi shift through one gear to the other easily and swiftly. New transmission system of the vehicle is accompanied by a new set of twin engine options for the vehicle as well. The Toyota Fortuner is now available in two different engine options which include the 2.5 litre and the 3.0 litre engine.



All new Toyota Fortuner 3.0 4WD AT is equipped with a new 3.0 litre 2982cc D-4D, Inter-cooler Turbocharger, In-line, DOHC engine with an overall capacity to produce a maximum power output of 168.5 Bhp at 3600 rpm and a net torque of 343 Nm at 1400-3400 rpm. Though the vehicle is equipped with a five speed automatic gearbox, the engine could be raved on road to gain maximum performance and speed levels, which can be raved to gain a maximum speed of 165 kmph. Although the vehicle consumes more fuel in a very less time, which is the only negative so far, the company has managed to provide the massive vehicle a larger ratio of tank space of 80 litres. The all black design of the vehicle also goes with the wheels, which is designed with a 12 spoke alloy dark grey tone wheels. Standard options for the braking system of the vehicle includes an Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) with Brake Assist. Suspension system comes with a front and rear Double Wishbone and 4-Link with Lateral Rod system which ensures pure balance and stability during higher ground adventure drives.
