BMW M6 Gran Coupe: Power Packed Family Vehicle

The four door BMW M6 Gran Coupe is claimed to be one of the most expensive and luxurious breed of the M brand series.

A four door saloon that slots between the M6 coupe and M5 saloon, it states it's rivalry directly to the Mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG and Audi RS7. As expected of a car from BMW's M division, the M6 Gran Coupe is also well suited for both performance and daily driving. It's twin-turbocharged, 560hp V8 engine, shared with the M5's blistering acceleration. While handling is sharp, despite the M6's large dimensions and significant weight. At the same time, the M6 Gran Coupe is a comfortable, every day use vehicle. It's variable suspension settings prove surprisingly supple when commuting, running errands and cruising down the highway on a road trip. The interior is more driver focused compared to the M5, but it still exudes expensive materials and elegant design. A seven-speed automated transmission, with paddle shifts comes standard, though a six-speed conventional manual transmission is a not a preferred option. The M treatment only improves the Gran Coupe's looks, with massive, gaping front air intakes forming it's menacing smile.



All M6 Gran Coupe's feature an automatic start-stop system, that shut downs the engine when you mean to conserve fuel. BMW claims the M6 Gran Coupe can sprint to 100Km in just 4.1 seconds with the seven-speed automated manual transmission and 4.3 seconds with the six-speed manual transmission. The vehicle comes with a standard antilock disc brakes, as well as traction and stability control, brake fade compensation, automatic brake drying and hill holder. It also consists of front airbags, front seat mounted side airbags, knee airbags, side curtain airbags, active front seat head restraints, parking sensors and a rear view camera. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe's cabin has decidedly a driver focused layout, trimmed in abundance of leather and other high end materials, including plenty carbon fibre accents. The distinctive headliner treatment pairs simulated suede with leather in a design that follows the contours of the carbon fibre roof. BMW's iDrive controller and 10.2 inch screen together handle entertainment, navigation and phone functions, as well as other miscellaneous functions. The vehicle is offered in a single, well equipped trim level that includes 20 inch wheels, adaptive suspension dampers, a limited slip differential, adaptive and auto leveling bi-xenon headlights, LED foglights, automatic high beams, front and rear parking sensors, automatic soft close doors and power folding and auto dimming mirrors. It is visually distinguishable from other 6 series Gran Coupes with it's aero countered carbon fibre roof, unique front grille and air intakes, M specific side vents and rear revised bumpers with diffuser elements.

For additional performance, the optional competition package provides a freer breathing exhaust system that yields 5 additional hop, lightweight wheels, revised tuning for suspension, steering and rear differential, returned stability control and a black chrome finish for the tailpipes. The executive package includes LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, a head up display, power rear sunshade, manual rear side window shades, ventilated fatigue preventing active front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Driver assistance Plus package features a lane departure warning system, blind spot monitoring, top view and front side cameras, speed limit information and a forward collision warning and mitigation system with pedestrian detection. Stand alone options include an alternative 20 inch wheel design, high performance carbon ceramic brakes, a premium 16 speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system, a night vision system with pedestrian detection and various options for extended leather and wood trim in the cabin.
