How to Drive Safely in the Rain?

Here are some top tips for driving in the rain

Drive in the rain

*Turn on Headlights:
Turn the headlights on even in light rain or in gloomy, foggy or overcast conditions. It will help you see better in rainy days and it will help other drivers see you.
*Dive at a speed limit:
There is a chance of losing control of your car on wet or slippery pavement. So go slowly and brake before entering the curves.
*Check the tyres:
Bald tires offers poor grip/ friction. So check your tyres regularly.
*Avoid flooded roads:
Never drive through moving or standing water if you can't see the ground through it; your car could be swept off the road. Stop the car before entering the flooded area and check the water level ahead.
*Check the Wipers:
Check wipers on regular basis and replace at least once a year. Old wipers don't clear water from the windshield very well and distort your view.
*Heavy rain? Stop and wait:
If it is raining heavily, its better to park in a protected area and wait till the rain ease up. Because the visibility will be very limited that time.
*Keep a distance apart:
Maintain a longer distance from the vehicle ahead of you because the spray from the vehicle ahead of you will affect your visibility. Moreover it takes longer to stop or adjust in wet weather conditions.
*Check the brakes:
If you drove through a deep pool of water, test your brakes by stepping on and off. Wet brake pads have less power
*Defog the windows:
Rain or humidity will quickly cause your windshield to fog up. Turn on your front and rear defoggers to keep your windows clear.
*Never drive beyond the limits of visibility:
The glare of oncoming lights, amplified by the rain on your windscreen, can cause temporary loss of visibility while substantially increasing driver fatigue.
